I got a problem that just started a couple of days ago, seemingly after I ran Regcleaner automatic scan. I have already restored that. I am running Housecall now. The problem is when I try to print something or even if I don't, I get a box that says "Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

When I try to print, it says I need to install a printer. When I try to do that, it says " The print spooler is not running." OK, when I look at the 'Details' it says spoolsv.exe

From what I have found, this is a normal Windows file, altho some think it is a virus (hence, Housecall scan)

My question is: how do I restore this file? And from where? I just won an auction on ebay and need to print out some screens, and things, and voilla! no printer.

Thanks for any help.

Bob

Try doing a system restore to before you deleted the file with regcleaner.

I did a search on spoolsv.exe and didn't find it anywhere. I don't know how, but it got deleted. So, I loaded up the XP CD and reinstalled it. That seems to have taken care of it, at least I can print now. My son uses my system when I'm not home...

I guess I need to hurry and get my wife's syetm up and running, so he will leave mine alone. Maybe.

Thanks, everyone.

:)
