i just got this problem 2 days ago, and ive searched it up a little, but now want to ask you guys. my cpu is constantly goin at 100% usage, and when i go and have a look at the processes its the spoolsv.exe, so i go into control panel->printer and faxes and i hav to icons there, my printer icon(HP Deskjet 810c) and microsoft office document image writer, and they both have numbers queued up to be printed, but i never queued up any, the name of the documents queued up are "remote downlevel document" so i cancel printing on both of them, but later on, my computer goes slow again, and its the same problem, theres pages queued up to print again, this is constantly happening like every 10mins or so after i cancel the queues. ive done chkdsk, virus scan with AVG, free online scan with housecall, xoftspy spyware scan, and spybot scan. but still same problem aswell. so im not sure if i got some kind of virus or someones hacking me or something???

im not hooked up to any network and ive been using xp with sp2 and the same printer for about 6 months now and this is the first time this problem has happened.

thanks in advance...

Peace.

I had a problem on a PC where a Canon 250i and a HP PSC 131 was installed. I could not delete the Canon 250i because it had a document in it called "Remote downlevel document" that would not delete. The HP PSC would print a Windows Test page in THREE to FOUR HOURS! and the CPU usage sat at 99.

After spending hours looking for an solution on the web, I fixed the problem as followed on a WinXP HE PC:
1) I stopped Print Spooler service
1.5) I deleted all shares on all PCs linking to the Canon 250i.
2) I went to c:\Windows\System32 and rename spoolsv.exe to spoolsv.exe.old
3) I went to c:\Windows\System32\spool and deleted the Canon 250i's folders from the drivers and the prtprocs folders (I was named Win40 incedently)
4) I cleared the PRINTERS folders
5) I expanded the original spoolsv.ex_ from the WindowsXP HE CD
6) I started the print spooler again. The Canon 250i was gone from the printers and faxes window together with the "stuck" print job.

how to fix it is easy, go to -

start/settings/ printers and faxes

look for the printer that has documents still printing or to be printed, dubble click on it.

box opens showing printng job. right click on it and chose cancell job on each on that shows a print job not performed yet.

right click on spoolsv.exe in the main window and choose end process.

I have a similar problem - mystery documents keep showing up in my printer spool and pages of garbage come out the printer. I am able to delete the jobs and, after stopping the spool service, delete the files in the spool, but then others appear in a few days and, if I don't check before hand and delete, when I turn on my printer pages of garbage start popping out again. Any ideas on solving this once and for all?
