What is a spooler subsystem app? I keep getting an error in the network setup wizard. Could this be causing the problem I am having with my adapter not hooking up to the internet.

The error appears but the network wizard keeps going until it gets to the last screen about making a cd.
Thanks,
Kate

Do you use Zone Alarm or have a network printer or a lexmak printer?

By design (and I
consider this a bug), ZoneAlarm will consider access to your TCP/IP
loopback address (127.0.0.1 or localhost) in the Internet Zone.

See if you can add localhost to your Trusted zone (local network zone).
If Zone Alarm then refers to your print spooler accessing the Trusted Zone, then
you know it was acessing your machine via the loopback.

As a side note, your loopback address is an IP address that always
refers to your computer whether you're online or not. Any software that
needs to talk to other software on your machine via TCP/IP can use the
loopback address to avoid being visible on whatever public network
you're on (cable modem, dialup, coorporate LAN, etc)

Hope This Helps

I don't have zone alarm and have just noticed that my printer doesn't work. I think everything is related.

Be more specific on what I should do.

Have you loaded any printer drivers lately?
Try "System Restore" before that point.

I'm having the same problem. I have a usb lexmark ink jet printer installed on this XP machines. When I have the printer plugged in, I see the Brother Laser print status on my task bar. When I try to print, the system doesn't see any of the installed printer devices, and when I go to Printers and Faxes, it is blank (not even the add printer icon). When I print within an application, it says there are no printers installed, select yes to add one. When I click yes, it says the operation was not able to complete.

As soon as I unplug the lexmark printer from the usb port, the printers reappear in the under the print command and in Printers and Faxes.

I'm randomly getting the "Spooler SubSystem App encountered a problem" message even when I'm not trying to print anything.

What the should I do?
