spontaneous crash and dump

June 7, 2010 at 12:29:03
Specs: XP SP3, pIV 3200/2GB
I'm getting an spontaneous, random crash of my XP SP3 system, once or twice a day. A blue screen with text in white, saying to check newly installed hardware devices and reinstalling them. No further clues, except a STOP address and, only once, a symbol constant: KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

I would like to know if there is any procedure to trace it, checking a memory dump or something like that. This error is, possibly, the same that happens in this compuer after 5 years, in which both keyboard and mouse were frozen. I suspect that now, instead of freezing, crashes.

Have you open the case and cleaned all the dust out? Is the power supply OK?

HI there,

Open your computer case and remove RAM and if you have more than one ram then insert 1 and test your system then insert 2nd and test your system. If RAM works ok then check your hardrive for bad sectors by Chkdsk command if your hardisk is also OK then definately there is problem with your system Power Supply...Clean your system and give a try may be this can help..

I hope this will help you to sort your problem.

Thanks & Regards,

thanks, I will check all that, although I have to say that, except a few pieces (box, disk 1, usb ports,...) the computer has been refurbished component by component including the power supply, twice...

I even made a test with a regulated power connection, with no success,...

After the crash, at next boot time Windows shows a modal screen to report error to Microsoft
