speakers pop when shuttng down

OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: INTEL PENT 4CPU 512RAM

Lately when shutting down my computer the speakers continuously pop, fast and loud, then slower and lower until the computer shuts dowm. I notice the LED on my web cam blinks on and off with the popping sound. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike

Open task manager and stop the running programs before shutting down until you come the the one causing the problem.
