Thanks
Steve

Personally, I like Mailwasher. I reads the e-mail headers directly off the server before ther are brought into your computer. It's free, I've been using it for years, and you can custom set it with filters. You can also configure it to automatically delete blacklisted e-mails from off the server without you even seeing them!
The area you would be interested in is Tools/Blacklist and Friends List/Filters.
Study this area carefully, it's very powerfulwww.mailwasher.com

Steven,
Mozilla has a built-in message filter system, why not use it? It works for me.
I'll tell ya; I have always kept my personal information including my email address online close to the hip. And I believe because of that it is the reason why I get no more then 6-9 pieces of spam in my inbox in any given year - no exaggeration.

Start Mozilla's mail client then on the menu bar go to Tools > Message filters and select New, then creating a filter is kinda easy to create. I would create a new folder first and name it Spam. Then go in and create a filter using the criteria suggested by what you find in the new filter dialog box. At first monitor your email closely for a few weeks to see where what is going where. You shouldn't have a problem. After a while you will probably have to tweak one or more filters. Good luck.
