Is SP3 for XP available from MS on disk? That's the way I upgraded my box with SP1 and SP2.

Asking because, I suspect, when MS commits an upgrade to disk, it's been more thoroughly tested than an upgrade that's just available online. :)

Thanks

Whatever makes you think that. When it is released on CD it will be exactly the same as the one available on-line, regardless of how much later it is.

Not true, sir. The initial offering online (years ago) from MS for SP1 and SP2 were far less reliable than what was offered on the final disk from MS.

I know this is true, having worked as a tech in those years. Rarely had a problem with the MS upgrade disks; had many more problems using the downloads from MS.

Thanks for your input, but it doesn't wash in my experience. Apparently, you feel that tired sarcasm is a substitute for an honest reply. :)

Here's the closest your going to get to a cd.

All Microsoft is issuing is a SP3 (build number .5512) .iso file this time. This is the exact build number as the SP3 download.

You can get it here, please supply your own cdr and burner...

I would think that if a cd was put out, that would be inferior to a version for download since no upgrades or fixes could be made to it after the disk was created. It may be outdated by the time it reached you. Just my opinion.
