Comment:

Installed SP3 last night. Got to reboot and ended up with blue screen and this message...

STOP: c0000139 Entry Point Not Found. The procudue entry point Gdi GetBitMapBitsSize could not be located in the Dynamic Link library GDI32.dll

Safe mode does not work.
Last known good configuration does not work.

Recovery mode asks for a admin password. I don't remember it.

I have downloaded a gdi32.dll file. thinking about using a boot floppy and trying to see if I can copy it to the required directory. Can anyone tell me how to do this exactly? Any way to bypass the admin password? Any ideas from anyone please?

If your XP partition is formatted in NTFS, then you may have to use a floppy disk with a special driver on it that helps with reading/writing on a NTFS partition.

You can find such drivers on the internet. Just run a search for " boot floppy and ntfs ".

Good luck.

The SP3 build numbers is 5512 which is the SP3 Final release available from Major Geeks and Softpedia.

This is the same number as the SP3 release on Technet XpUser...

That's the problem I had. Even a system repair wouldn't work. I ended up recloning from a backup clone 10 days old. And yes, it was 5512 downloaded from Major geeks.

I have had no problems with two installs I have done on Virtual PC 2007, and all the software I have installed on them.

My neighbours XP SP3 install is going good as well, he is the first to whinge if something is wrong.

I will be doing another install on another XP computer in the unit block I live at tomorrow, so I expect my luck to hold for a fourbles...

I have tried to download SP3 four times on my notebook. Each time I tried to install SP3 the installation failed because the file was corrupt? At least that is what the dialogue box indicated. I have XP Media Center. I downloaded SP3 from four seperate locations on the majorgeeks site. Can XP be installed on XPMC?

Got it working. Did a repair install and after a couple more problems, it worked. Kept getting a blue screen until I removed one of the memory modules. Then it wouldn't let me into Windows until I agreed to activate it first. Got everything worked out and it appears to be working.
Thanks for the help everyone.
