Welcome to SP2. If it bothers you uninstall it in control panel-add/remove. It seems to affect different machines different ways.

Did you do a clean install with a slipstreamed Xp/Sp2 cd? If not I suggest you try that before judging Sp2. Your system should actually run faster with Sp2 installed.

Hope this helps,

Well the actual starting up the internet explorer and the destop properties seems faster... but with games its not good that are memory intense such as MMO's

FarCry runs better with DX.c gowever

Hi sandman. I tried your simpleslipper but it kept putting SP1 back on the machine. I tried 4 different ways and it didn't work.

Thats really odd Per. No one has reported that problem before. When you browse the disc SS burnt do you see a file in the root of the cd named "SETUPXP.HTM"?

Hope this helps,

i had the same problem! installed sp2 and now the hard disk now thrashes for ages when opening files, or the start menu, or anything for that matter. It seems to make even the smallest amout of multi-tasking obismal! its as if its using a page file too much.

i tried defrag,
tried clearing temps,
and all other junk

its since i installed sp2 this morning

startup is slower too

Ive seen quite a few ppl saying this in other forums aswell, found no cures yet tho

which way you install xpsp2 doesnt seem to affect this issue at all.

any suggestions?
