yes i have gone to the windows update site and updated everything. when i go to start->right click MyComputer->Properties the thing under system says

The x64-based version of Windows XP is based on the Windows Server 2003 code tree. So service and support activities for the version relies on the Windows Server 2003 tree and do not use the Windows XP client tree.
All fixes built into Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) are included in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1). And therefore, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition does not require Windows XP SP2 as an itegral secondary layer.
Because Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and the x64 editions of Windows Server 2003 have different product names but receive the same updates, hope that irons out the confusion.
