Sounds coming from one side only...

Specs: Windows XP, 2.8 P4, 768MB RAM

I have been playing games and listening to music on my headphones recently because my speakers are in another house. However recently when I try to listen to music or play games the sound only comes out of one side (the left side). I checked all my settings and everything is set to "center". The headphones work fine with my iPod Shuffle and TV. I updated my Realtek AC97 drivers and still nothing. The headphones are more a less new and I don't think they are the problem. I am seriously stumped with this one. Any help or pointers?

Have you tried putting the mini jack in halfway to see if both side on your headphones work? I know you said it worked with ur ipod...but maybe try that way anyways...just for curiousity

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Whenever this has happened to me I have found that with the PC switched off (most important) inserting and removing the headphone or speaker jack plug several times whilst slightly twisting/wiggling the jack plug at the same time is enough to clean any slight corrosion in the socket.
