Hi
I have a Creative Soundblaster PCI Sound Card which I am using with Windows XP. When I try to use the microphone in an MSN Voice or Skype Voice Conversation, I can hear the other person in my speakers or headphones but they cannot hear me. My microphone is working. In Device Manager, I have the Creative Sound Blaster Audio and I also have a device called SiS7018 but I tried both of these and neither work.

The Voice Recording Advanced Tab is greyed out in Recording Control. How can I fix this please?

Please reply asap.
Thanks
Danny

Did you look under the "Sound and Audio Devices" or the "System information"? The "Sound and Audio Devices" is where you select the microphone recording device. Being grayed out means no device is selected, so you need to go and select one.
Please post back if this has corrected the problem.

i looked under sound and audio devices. i am curious as to whether my computer came with a pre-installed sound card because there are 3 holes for microphone on the back. I tried plugging the speakers into this yesterday but i could not get any sound and i selected the SiS 7018 Audio Driver in "Select Device" but this did not work.
To answer your question, the Creative Sound Card PCI was selected in Sound and Audio Devices, but for some reason, the Advanced Tab is greyed out.
Now I have removed the creative sound card from my system and did a search and removed the creative files in my c drive. I will now reboot and windows should detect this device and I will try to install the software automatically or from the CD rom.
I will let you know if this fixes the problem but would appreciate you comments on why the Advanced Tab is Greyed Out when the Device is there in the system.
Many thanks
Danny
