The answer is NO, you can use any microphone you've purchased that plugs into the 3.5 mm jack on your integrated sound card. Along with a microphone plugged into the right jack (usually colour-coded pink/red), you'll need appropriate audio recording software to record the sounds coming from your microphone onto your computer.
