Soundcard stutters?

Hi, whenever i play audio files the sound stutters if i scroll down my browser on the net or use another program while the file is playing! It never used to do this when i had ME installed. I heard it could be a hardware conflict but i cant see anything wrong. Anyone got any ideas i could try to sort it please?

What sound card brand?? , version? etc would be helpful. Try updating the drivers use xp version only. what direct x version are u using? more info required!
