Hi,
about three months ago dark lines started showing up on my screen display whereever text is written. As I fill up a line of text, the lines I see become darker. I don't think that this is a problem with my monitor because I tested the monitor with my other computer and did not have a problem. I've reinstalled the most recent version of my video card driver, but the problem persists. Thoughts/suggestions?

Also, about a week ago, my I stopped having sound on my computer. When I try to play games, music, or movies, the program will stop responding, and sometimes my computer will freeze. I tried installing the newest driver for my Soundblaster Live! card, but just before InstallShield opens, I get a message that says that my computer cannot detect any soundblaster hardware. I have reset both my video and sound cards on the motherboard, but it didn't help.

I use an IWill VD133 Motherboard that supports Pentium 3 processor. I use a Pentium 3. Maybe that information helps.

I'm not convinced that this is a compatability issue, because my system worked fine during the several months preceding my problems.

I've also been having problems with Rundll saying that it can't find "framedyn.dll", yet I know I have framedyn.dll. I wonder if this could be related, either directly or indirectly, to my sound and video problems?

Help!

corrupt file fix
Perform a "Disk Cleanup": Double-click "My Computer" then right-click on your XP drive,
select Properties > Disk Cleanup. Next, perform the following:

1) Open the "Command Prompt" and type: SFC /SCANNOW , and hit enter. (Important: Make
sure there is a space between the 'C' and the ' / ' otherwise it won't work) [SFC = System
File Checker].

(Have your XP CD available since you will be prompted to insert it in the CD drive. The
SFC procedure will take approximately 20 - 30 minutes to complete.)

2) Afterward, perform a Checkdisk (file error-checking and repair procedure).
Open the "Command Prompt" and type: CHKDSK /R , and hit enter and answer 'yes' to the
question and restart your computer.

3) After performing the above procedures, run "Defrag".
