After installing a new Audigy2 card. I have no got, in device manager, an unknown device, an IEEE 1394 Controller, this is a firewire port, and apparently the drivers i need are with XP, but no matter what, i cannot get it to install, as it cannot find the software to install it with. Can anyone help with this installation, or do i actually really not need this firewire port?

Look on your motherboard disk.I think those are via drivers maybe?
Anyways if your motherboard supports it that is where the drivers would be.

hmmm...this is curious. My Audigy MP3+ which came with a firewire port had windows drivers associated with it. It works fine and the drivers came with win xp. Took a look at my son's machine with an Audigy 2 in it and his firewire port has the same windows drivers. They come with xp.
Have you tried running the plug and play hardware install wizard? If so, have you tried uninstalling the card in device manager and rebooting to see if the operating system sees it and then installs the drivers? (by uninstalling I mean just the IEEE1394 portion not the sound part)
