i just recently changed my laptop from vista to XP because vista was so slow.
but now my sound and mic (both internal wont work) i tried headphones but still no luck.
the laptop simply says no audio device when i try to change the volume despite the fact it was working with vista. the computer detects no playback or recording device. i tried external speakers and headphones but no luck...please help me.

you`ll need the driver for the sound card
please tell us the model of it
if you don`t know it, download astra32 from here and in the system summary branch you`ll find sound chip part
there are the information necessary
our patience is big

Sound Chip Vendor: Intel Corporation
Sound Chip: 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio
AC'97/HDA Codec Name: Realtek ALC861-VD-GR
hope this helps :)

Make sure you're running at least SP2 also because you'll need
the HD Audio drivers as well for the drive to talk to the card
through the bus. The RT driver will tell you if you need the HD
audio driver and it usually must be installed BEFORE the sound
drivers.
