sound problem

CPU/Ram: pent IIII 256 mb

greetings..my nextdoor neighbor has a problem with his sound, after accidently plugging in some kind of out put source from a little kareeokee (can't spell it)toy, plugged it into the headphone jack on the front of his computer instead of the input. so know he has no sound output at all. I havn't checked his machine out yet, with what little I know, so I thought I mite ask here for any thoughts of what damage this may of caused..thanx in advanced chuck
