All of a sudden we are getting no sound and getting two error messages

DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)

DirectMusic test results: Failure at step 6 (Activating the IDirectMusicPort): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)

I have tried to research this problem and have seen several people recommend uninstalling the sound card drivers and reinstall but that does not seem to help anyone. Someone also mentioned fixing the system.ini file but I don't know how to do that. Any thoughts?

I would try a reinstall of DirectX, since that's where the 2 errors came from...just a thought
