I just installed XP Pro on my computer and I have a SB Live Value sound card. I used Sony MDR V6000 headphones with this soundcard on Windows 2000 and it worked fine. On XP, it makes a skip sound usually when I click on something or a task simliar like minimizing something. I have 1 ghz Athlon and 256 megs of RAM. In the AudioHQ I also have headphones selected and digital output off.. so..

Make sure you have the latest up to date sound drivers for you sound card. That should correct the problem.

I didn't see any on-board sound in my bios setup. When I load up q3 or any other game it just makes the noise, it's more like a little buzz or blurp then straight static, it does it over and over.
