Sound problem with Headphones

I just installed XP Pro on my computer and I have a SB Live Value sound card. I used Sony MDR V6000 headphones with this soundcard on Windows 2000 and it worked fine. On XP, it makes a skip sound usually when I click on something or a task simliar like minimizing something. I have 1 ghz Athlon and 256 megs of RAM. In the AudioHQ I also have headphones selected and digital output off.. so..

Make sure you have the latest up to date sound drivers for you sound card. That should correct the problem.

If your motheroard has on-board sound, disable it in BIOS setup.

I didn't see any on-board sound in my bios setup. When I load up q3 or any other game it just makes the noise, it's more like a little buzz or blurp then straight static, it does it over and over.
