Hope someone can help!..I lost sound on the laptop when Win98 crashed...it didn't come back when I re-installed. I later installed WinXP and the sound returned. NOW I'll have sound for awhile when i turn it on or re-boot...but after awhile I'll lose all sound again. Occasionally will get crackling noises. Any idea what's going on here???

I just downloaded a driver...laptop has't been runnig that long so I don't know if it will work. But if it were a driver, would I get sound at all?? Yes...I tried Troubleshooting...device manager... I plugged in headphones last night...person I was talking to could hear me but I couldn't hear her. Could it be a hardware problem...like bad speakers?
