Hello all, thanks for opening my post.
I recently bought this computer
(iPower from packard bell)
There has been windows vista on it, but since I'm really fond of xp I bought xp pack and put it on my computer.
Now everything is working exept sound.
I'm a bit of a newbie, I have creative sound device and Realtek high def audio card, and when I plug it in it doesn't work. It doesn't even find hardware and stuff. Tried downloading drivers but seems to me that I'm doing more damage then good.thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing my music again :)

Does the Creative Labs card work?
I think you need to clarify what's actually in the computer, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you want to use the onboard sound processor (the Realtek) as opposed to the Creative Labs card.
In that case, you need to disable the Creative Labs soundcard drivers, then do anotehr hardware scan. Windows does not play nice with multiple soundcards without some really serious tinkering.
However, I would suggest you use the card and not the onboard sound, as the sound card will probably have much better audio acceleration, which will improve movies and games quite noticibly because of the load that it can take off of the CPU; when the CPU is processing sound, it can use over 30% of its available resources.
No break or I kill you!

My computer did find the sound card in vista, but not in xp, maybe this will help more figuring out what the problem is

there is also more of a chance that the onboard sound might not have XP drivers available since you bought it with Vista, where as the add-on card will most likely have drivers available.
