sound module?????

My sister just bought a PC with winxp when she goes to play music the error comes up no sound module found ....What excatly is a sound moduel? (sorry I have no computer smarts) waaaaa!

Most people call it a sound card. A seperate card that plugs into a PCI slot and that you can plug your speakers into. If you don't have one, time to go shopping.

Okay thanks wasn't sure if sound card/sound moduel where the same .....strange her computer didn't come with a sound card well atleast onboard sound you would think!

Almost all new PC's (if they are ATX cases) come with onboard sound. It must be enable in the BIOS.
Press Delete while the computer is loading immediatley after power-up. Look around, but be careful. If you have no computer smarts.. do not change anything you do not understand!!!

Look for the onboard sound...it should be called AC 97 or something like that.
