For the past few days my computer has had problems with it's sound. I cant listen to music or hear sound from videos on it. When ever i restart my computer i will temporarily have my sound back, but then after a few minutes it loses the sound. i can still get basic beeping noises if i do something like hitting three keys at the same time though.

The most likely reason is that one of your (audio or video) programs is muting the sound. Double left click the speaker in the lower right corner of the monitor screen. Then check all the volume controls in the mixer.

FWIW to XP users: When you click on the 'Command Prompt' you are just causing the 'Command prompt' to be displayed. This prompt gives you access to NTVDM.EXE, the 'NT Virtual DOS Manager'.

Computer Speed and Performance May Decrease

When you open, then close programs,
programs may not free up RAM memory.
That is called "Memory Leak".
Restarting computer will clear out its RAM memory.
--------------------
To have more RAM available at startup,
You can do Start, then RUN, then type
msconfig
Then uncheck items in the Startup tab.

To find out what each Startup(or Process) item
does or means, and any recommendation as to if you should close the process:

sound isn't my only issue. sometimes programs wont open up and a message is displayed. i forget what is says, but next time i will post it. A few days ago i tried making my computer faster by tweaking some things. I downloaded a program named free ram pro. and i also changed some of my computer settings.
