sound icon disappears task bar?

Hi, the sound icon keeps disappearing from the taskbar. Then sometimes it reappears after a reboot. Intermittent behavior, and the sound still works? Does anyone know how to lock it onto the task bar? Thanks

XpUser4Real, Go to the link below and under the letter "N" scroll down to "Notification Area". Once you have it showing I'd try the "Volume Control disappears in the Notification Area:" first.

Thanks Tufenuf, I'm just running an sfc /scannow on the laptop and then I'll give that a shot and post back. Thanks again

When the speaker icon isn't visible, it should be available by clicking on the < in the circle to the left of the taskbar icons, which shows icons for things you haven't used for a while.
