MS Media Player was working on and off, the sound would die after about 15minutes of play, so id reboot, and it would work for another 15 minutes. Now it wont work at all, same with Win Amp or ITunes, however I still have sound from Quake III or whatnot with no problems. so ?

So does it just happen mainly with multimedia programs or those media player type programs?
How about quicktime, do you get sound with a quicktime movie sample or something? Just trying to narrow it down. That's a way harder issue to fix if it is hard to narrow down or find the cause.

yes, just media programs.
Another problem with sound im having is the mic. It only picks up what is being played through the speakers, but this has been going on for like 3 yrs so whatever.
