I don't know very much about computers. I tried to install a sound card on to Windows XP. When the driver is installing...the computer restarts itself.
When the computer loads up, it says the driver was installed incorrectly, and asks if I'd like to finish installation.
If I say yes, and I install it, or if I reboot in safe mode and install it from the hardware manager, the next time the computer reboots and loads the desktop, it restarts itself. The only cure is to boot up in safe mode and either do a system restore or uninstall the driver. What do I do or what could be wrong?

Hello,

Try getting the updated drivers for your sound card from the manufacturers’ website.

If that doesn't work, try installing another sound card and see if you have the same problem, or if it's a new card, and under warrenty, bring it in to the store where you bought it from and have then test it out.
