Sound card Failure

Specs: Windows XP
I am having problem with my sound card... Sometimes when boot my PC and try to play any sound the window shows the message " no sound card" I go to control panel and look at the sound control panel and find them marked with faint...( disabled) My sound card is old one. It is creative Sound Blaster(Vibra 128) Though in past i was able to hear sound on the same PC which Dual Core 2.2 GHZ, mother board ABIT. Please advice

Why are you using an old sound card? Virtually all modern motherboards have integrated sound that is pretty fair or better. I assume there is no WinXP driver for the installed card. Did you check?

Creative labs has that card marked as "End of Service Life" and is not showing any drivers for it. You may be able to find something on one of the third party driver sites.

As I stated above, the on board sound may be as good or better and drivers should be available. I am guessing because you didn't post ANY hardware specs as required.

Yup I have got a on board sound card... But I like to use my old one since it still sounds pretty amazing ......
