I bought a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and put it in and installed it, everything worked fine, I set it to 5.1 surround sound. When i plug my surround sound(Creative forget what model)into it though it only places sound from the left and right speakers. Ive played music, dvds, games, ect any nothing plays out of any different speakers at any times. Im using a HP Pavillion A282N.
Anyone have any ideas or answers?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
Thanks.

Go into windows speakers setting and set it on 5.1 surround and check your speaker connections to the sound card (consult your manual) to be sure you have 'em plugged in right.
Creative also has a speaker test to test all the 5.1 speakers, try that too.

The greatest risk is not taking one

Try right-clicking the audio icon () in the system notification area. Then select Adjust Audio Properties.
Under the Speaker settings area, click Advanced. Now look under the bit that says "Speaker setup:" and change it to the second-from-bottom entry, aptly named 5.1 surround sound speakers. Click OK twice to exist all dialogs and save changes.
This should tell instruct Windows to use the full 5.1 sound capabilities of your sound card and speakers. By the way, you might need to restart your PC after you change the setting.
I hope this helps,
James

The only thing i can think of is the wire they gave me to enable cdda which I didnt because i used the option of setting it from my dvd and cd players, but i dont think my cd and dvd players have that cabled hook up either so maybe thats it? But then the colors of the wires for the surround sound are Orange,Green, and Black when i just plug the green in it makes the 2 speakers work, when i plug the rest in nothing new happens just those 2 speakers still work.
