SOS for booting presario 5373!!

CPU/Ram: pentium 3/128

thank you for your help, but when i boot with the winxp bootdisk i get this message:
DISK I/O ERROR
please help, i dont know what to do!!

If you know how to work on your PC safely, open the case and make sure all of the ribbon cables in the PC are securely attached to the drives. If that doesn't help post back.

You have indicated you have a Pentium 3 Compaq. I find it hard to believe it doesn't have a Cd boot facility. Are you sure you know what the Bios is and how to get into it?
