Comment:

I am having trouble accessing all the websites that I normally view. This started the same time that I started having popups for antispyware. I renewed my Norton subscription and ran Ad Aware, Spybot S&D and then purchased Spyware Doctor. Vundo and Virtumonde were detected and removed. I expected my computer to return to normal, but now I having problems with the browsing in both Firefox and IE. I cannot access Yahoo,
for example. Please help. Thanks!!!!

Jill

Thanks for the reply. I saw that on another

I deleted the hosts file and then rebooted, but it didn't help.

Go here c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and delete the file named hosts it has no file extension.

Then restart your computer...

Do you mean restore all of the trojans and adware? There are 103 items quarantined.

The OP said he could not access the site where he could have seen that.

I thought that it was common knowledge where the hosts file was, I learned that in Windows Basic 101 a good many years ago... 8)

Spywaredoctor is a piece of crap. Use Superantispyware instead. Google it.

Thank you very much. I restored everything in Spyware Doctor except the virtumonde trojan and then downloaded Superantispyware. After scanning, I can now get to the websites that
weren't accessible before. It did give me a message that Windows\System32\hlsphsae.dll could not be found. Should I be concerned?
Thanks again.

Jill

Could you check the spelling? I'm not 100% familiar with hlsphsae.dll

Thanks.
