Some USB devices not recognized

Comment:
I've lost nearly all USB connectivity in my PC.
Normally I have a 7-port powered USB hub, but it is no longer recognized in windows. It still has a red light (power's OK), but I can't plug it into a any USB ports (motherboard, USB PCI card, ports on top of PC case).
At first I thought the hub must be dead... but then I tried plugging my iPod, then USB flash drive into all 6 ports. Nothing. "USB Device not recognized." Normally, they're fine regardless of which USB port they're plugged into.
And yet, my keyboard and mouse works fine when plugged in. Anything else = nothing.

Well.
I've tried all the points in "SIS USB Tips and Tricks."
Changed SIS 7001 USB host controllers to OpenHCI, tried the downloadable WinXP EXE USB fix, updated my BIOS, disabled Legacy USB, done Windows Update, etc.
I've requested the USB fix in Microsoft's Support Center, and they'll provide the link "within 8 hours." Nothing to do but wait and hope.
The worst part is I have no idea when this happenned. Had to have been this week, since I charge my iPod every business day.

Got it from a weblog who also tried all the above.
Powered of the PC, unplugged all cables, held the power button for 1min, left it off overnight.
Plugged everything back in next morning, turned it on, ALL IS WELL.
