i posted my message about delay after logon to XP (refer to message #35786). now i got a solution for it, it worked on my computer and those ppl who has the same problem could try it. well, i'm using dsl connection, i dont know if it will work on dail up too, if anyone with dail up try it, please give some feed back, i really appreciate it. here it goes: First step, Get on line.....2.... Start/ Run, type, cmd and press enter. at the dos prompt, type IPCONFIG .... "Under Ethernet Adapter Local Area Conection" You will see values for IP address and subnet mask. Write these numbers down.........then go to Start/Connect to/Show all connections, right click the LAN connection icon, bring up the property menu, Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), which highlights it,,,, Then click on the properties tab below that. At this window,,, uncheck the box" obtain IP Address automaticly" and add the two values you wrote down. Hit OK below. And Close.....Now reboot. Hope this could help someone.

Leon, your solution is for delays before logging on. Specifying an IP does speed up the boot process since PC will not waste time looking for a dhcp server.
After logon, this is no longer an issue. A lot of users are experiencing this problem, I as well. We log on, and then we are 'stuck' for almost 30 seconds. No one has determined the source of the delay yet. Someone has offered the theory that the fix by MS to correct the BITS Service does not always work and that we should disable the service entirely but I have yet to try it.
Anyone with any ideas, please post 'em.
