original post text (by MarkRM):
- (title) "Can't save Win. Theme files"
- I have recently noticed that I cannot save Windows Theme files via the desktop properties.
- I change the taskbar color and wallpaper and then try and save it as a Theme file -- but it always fails to be created.
- I have tried to save it in different places along with the proper Windows/Resources/Themes folder, but still to no avail!

thanks for your reply, mickliq.

in the 'old' days, before 'themes' like 'luna',
a customized appearance for the GUI
was called a 'desktop theme';
and its configuration being saved
with a '<name>.theme' filename.

i see that the 'theme' called 'luna'
uses both a '<name>.theme'
as well as an 'msstyles' extension;
which implies the visual config (?).

the nice link you have provided, mickliq,
actually describes a setup similar to mine.
so, yes, u are psychic indeed :)
