Software to monitor power-off state

I'm having trouble with a WinXP SP3 system. It seems to either spontaneously go into hibernate or standby mode, but I can't figure out exactly why. I don't have direct access to the system for this week, just remote access. I'm wondering if there's a software I can run that will tell me if the computer enters standby or hibernate mode, as a start. Then I'll try to figure out more about it later.

Thanks,
- Eli

Start, then RUN, then type

powercfg

Then in Power Options there is a Hibernate tab, so you can uncheck check the box to Disable Hibernation.

It's kind of hard on a remote access system since the software won't run when the machine is down.
