There is an old forum on the subject of SDS 2.0 however it is somewhat dated. Has anybody been able to get rid of SDS 2.0? I have researched relentlessly and have found several websites addressing the problem, but none with a resolution. SDS 2.0 deleted all my old restore points and any available ones were unable to be restored. I really do not want to format my computer again and if I do how can I avoid having this annoyance installed again? Thanks.

Dunno if SUS and SDS is the same. See the WSUS page http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/updateservices/default.mspx. Are you running a domain on server 2003?

Correction: SDS is Microsoft acronym for windows updates delivered to your computer via automatic windows updates service. SDS creates a SR point so that if your machine mishehave afterward you can select this point to get rid of the recent update. If you don't want SDS to appear among your SR points, turn off aytomatic windows update service. i_XpUser

jefro, they are the same. SDS is one of M$'s closely-guarded secret. I think it came about when they beefed up their genuine advantage program that later became mandatory validation. i_XpUser

Yeah I cant use any of the restore points before SDS 2.0 was installed. I have disabled auto updates and System Restore, however it is still on my system and I know 100% its this service that is slowing my CPU down beyond belief. My music stutters and skips and its just a pain. So I know lots of people are aware of it, there have just been no ways to get rid of it other then system restore, so I was curious if anything else has surfaced.
