Hey all, I recently installed the software distribution 2.0 pack that was downloaded to my computer as part of an update. After the installation my computer has started to act up in all sort of weird ways. First off my Aim program will not open along with the Window Washer Program, i click on it and it does nothing. Also many of the icons on the service tray are absent. I have tried system restore to try and go back to a time before the installation but the computer can't restore. Anyone have any suggestionson reverting and uninstalling this????

From what i can gather this has been an ongoing thing since 03 of 06 and the best solution is to just restore back one day. and then turn off the autoinstallaion part of updates. then when it trys to reinstall it...choose the "custom" and then select the box to never show it again.

Thanks for the Reply, I've tried to restore however once the computer is restarted following the restore command, it states that the restore can't be completed.

still trust 'automatic updates' for a terminally broken OS, eh? right, never give up hope!! :-)

do a system restore to a point BEFORE this 'update' and disable automatic update for good.

"Rename the "verclsid.exe" that is in the System32 folder to verclsid.old. Reboot. If that is what is causing the problem you are speaking of it should now be fixed. This is just a workaround tho. MS was supposed to release a patch for the patch that caused problems when it installed, so now they are repatching the patch."
