HEEEEEEELP... okay motorola discontinued the sm56 speakerphone modem before making xp drivers for us... (how inconvienient) although very unlikely, does anyone kno where i can find xp drivers for my Motorola SM56 Speakerphone Modem?

Why oh why oh why can't people learn to search for what they want ! Searching this site for Motorola SM56 gives 40 odd hits. In Google the simple search string "Motorola SM56 drivers for xp" gives over 250 hits, (many referring back to this site by the way) with masses of information on the subject plus drivers to download.

all drivers that come up in searches either a. crash my computer b. don't work c. are designed for 2k or nt5 yes although the core of xp is 2k and nt5, the drivers still do not work. it crashes before installation is completed, thus making discrepencies on my HD. anyone else have ideas?

If you had given this information in your original post my response might have been a tad less curt ! The fact is that the SM56 modem WILL work under XP with the 2k driver from Motorola but I fear that with so many failed driver installs behind you there is probably crud and debris scattered all over your system/registry etc. which is now preventing a correct installation but just what to do about it is hard to say. Have you tried cleaning your registry with something like RegCleaner from www.jv16.ofg.
