Hi, I got an exclimation mark under device managment at SM Bus controller. What do I need to install to get rid of that? Thanks

You need to install the driver for the device. good place to hunt it would be www.driverguide.com user: drivers pass:all

I have the exact same problem. When I try to update the SM Bus Controller (It finds the correct one on the Mobo CD for Asus K8N-E deluxe for WinXP Pro), but when the driver is applied I get "access denied".
Logged in as Administrator...
This is a clean WinXP pro install btw... I have only just got the onboard NVidia Gigabit Ethernet card working after some kind of driver issue...
I even went and got the latest mobo driver set all 25.9Mb of it on 56k dial-up, before I got broadband working...
But all the latest drivers did was to stop XP loading... lucky XP has the go back to last working config... :)
It was the NVidia Network Bus Emumerator which was stuffed up first... after I manually installed that driver the on board gigabit ethernet adapter suddenly appeared...
Any ideas on the access denied message ?

I had the same problem, I had to install service pack 1 first, then I could install the SM Bus Controller. (it was on the motherboard driver disk)
