Slow startup and shut down

Hi! Yesterday I installed new software(ACDSEE 4)for my new HP photosmart 318 digital camera and now my computer takes 5 minutes to start loading XP. I get the Compaq logo on startup and after about 5 minutes then it reads memory(768mb)and then it loads XP. Same slowness when shutting down. Why is this happening?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

When you do the re-install it ask you if you want to fix instead of a complete install

man lisa ur problem is xp is loading that program at startup,that's ur problem.try unloading it and see how xp starts.

Use system restore to go back to a restore point (date) before you installed the software.
I had a similiar situation after using WindowsUpdate and installing a critical update. After my update, I would have to wait 3-4 minutes for XP to shut down or restart the PC. I performed the System Restore to last point before the update, and no more long waits.
You might want to try this before reinstalling XP if you haven't already done so.
Anyways, hopes that helps.
