Slow RAID with XP Pro

I just upgraded to XP Pro using two 40 gig ATA 100 IBM drives on a HPT370 controler (Abit SA6R MB) and a 'RAID 0' setup. With Win 98 using same setup (Random access was 8.5ms and Read Burst Speed over 80megs sec), as tested with HDTach 2.61. Now with XP Pro HDTach reads 13ms random access but burst is still over 80megs sec. HighPoint drivers are current (V2.0.0919_370). Hope somone has some ideas. Thanks for any input.

I have three computers each operating in a RAID 0 mode and each with different MOBOs, one of which is an ABIT with a HPT370 contoller. While I have not measured their speeds, each is a screamer with no problems. You probably know this but another thought is that WInXP requires a lot more memory to be efficient vis-a-vis Win98 so if you have a minimum of RAM, your system may well have been faster with the previous OS. In addition your HD needs to be NTFS for best results. You should have no problems with the RAID drivers as long as they are current unless there are known problems with your MOBO.
