Anyone know why my Bios boot up takes an eternity? (About 4 mins). No errors or faults arise from this, just a complete pain in the butt. Used to be fast (under 5 seconds) until i installed a CDWriter. As slave on secondary channel with DVD CDROM. It works fine however, and is recognised by the Bios and XP, but could this be slowing the process of boot up in some way. Thanks for any ideas.

It's possible your BIOS chip needs a flash upgrade. And check thru the settings in the BIOS Setup.

D@mn, everyone recommends a bios flash. Only do it if it specifies the problem, unless you're a gambler, although you can usually fix a bad flash. Do you know how much power your power supply puts out by any chance??? I had a friend who had a decent P.S. but had so much stuff his system posted 3 times before it booted. He upgraded to I believe a 400 watt power supply and all is well. Cheers, William
