Do a Spybot and Adware check. That will help! :)

Make sure you also download SpywareBlaster from Java Cool!

And - make sure your firewall is enabled! :)

Hope this helps!

Your system is affected with a virus. The process homo.exe is viral. A local university was hit with this virus yesterday and they have submitted it to Symantec. Supposedly they were the first instance of this. As of right now I know of now fix but Symantec is working on this.

The file homo.exe is a w32.ircbot trojan varient. Once triggered it will attempt an IRC connection on port 6667 and open a backdoor to your computer.

You will need to get the latest MS patches for your system, then reboot in safe mode and delete the file c:\windows\system32\homo.exe and the following registry entries. (you may need to temporarily disable system restore)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\window2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\window2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\window2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\window2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\window2

Symantec has included this in their antivirus definitions since Saturday Sept,4 but you will need to manually update if you are using live update.

Good luck.....
