Strange thing happening lately my Norton has slowed to a crawl when loading and it's also effecting my Office items.
Anyone experience the same thing, also I know it's not spyware, a trojen, etc I have already checked for those.
Any clues I am ready to unload it and get another virus scanner.

Thanks

hacad, You're not alone as it seems like the latest Norton Live Update messed up many computers. Check out the link below and hopefully Norton will correct this quickly.

Cant bet the problem as I have just updated this feature in Norton 2003.

I will check again but ran live update last week and got a new Live update Module thats when it became slow.

I usually update the virus checker every 3-4 days, since I do not have live update turned on, I just do it manually.

Thanks for the reply, I am going to check with Symantec and see if thier site has anything.

Just did the January update for Norton 2003 yesterday. Turned on my computer this morning, and Microsoft Word is down to a crawl trying to open. Restarted and turned off/on did not work. Boss unloaded 2003 and put on the corporate version. Bingo, no problem now. But what about my employees who are at home with Norton and the same problem asking me for advice? Any words of wisdom? Thanks, Cyndee

I did send my information to Symantec hopefully others are also, they are fairly responsive most of the time, as I have used them for 6years already.
Cyndee I think you have to turn off the office plugin that's what I had to do, but the main program is dragging after my update, will see if I get any better response later.

I found if I un-plug the network cord then the problem stops. Doesn't help if you're trying to open a doc over the net though. I copied the doc to my local drive, unplugged and then opened ok.

So is it a certificate problem all my other programs work fine, with the exception of Office XP apps, which do only with Office Plug in disabled.
Outlook Express is slightly slower but does work.
When I open Norton System Works 2003 it takes about 20-30 seconds (sometimes longer) defrag and clearing the prefetch did not help.
I hope they resolve it quickly as I hate to have to cut them loose after all this time, but I'm sure if a lot of others are experiencing this they will get it worked out.

Honestly I had no problems up until the point I updated with the latest Live Update (last week).

I've had exactly the same problem! It even refused to boot up properly - I uninstalled it and then re-installed it and re-downloaded all the updates etc and that seemed to fix it - or it could be that I downloaded the latest certificate! I was having a problem with another program and their support dept said it was due to the expired certificate -
