Slow microsoft networks with novell

My problem begins when I install the Novell client 4.83 SP1 under my Windows XP, the microsoft network slows down and take several seconds (20 or 30) to open a computer in the network. Uninstall client and work fine. But i need client for office printing. Anybody know of a fix?
