Just wanted to post this info for everyone. It is a fix from MS that has cut my logon times from XP Pro workstations onto a Win2k Server from 2 plus minutes to 45 seconds.

Microsoft has released a fix for this problem on October 16, 2003. The only way to get this fix is to call Microsoft and open a support case and they'll email you a secure link to download the fix, free of charge. When WinXP SP2 is released (no release date on this yet), this hot fix will be included.

Check the Microsoft Knowledgebase for more details:
WinXP Slow Logon KB329457

Read on for the steps to take to get the fix and apply it.

Here's how to get the fix:
1) call Microsoft

Microsoft Support Phone Numbers

Small or Home Business (800) 936-4900
Developer (800) 936-5800
IT Professional (800) 936-4900
Partner (resellers or consultants) (888) 456-5570
Original Equipment Manufacturer (800) 936-2197
System Builder (888) 456-5570
Certified Partner (888) 677-9444
TDD/TTY (800) 892-5234

2) Request the hot fix for KBID 329457.

3) Installation is simple and quick - read the included text file for more information.

It would be much more effective if step one was eliminated.

Actually it was really painless... I only had to choose two voicemail options and had a real person on the phone within 2 minutes, and had the information emailed to me 1 minute later.
