slow internet

OS: XP pro
CPU/Ram: 1400/256

since a week I've got a very slow connection. I asked my provider for advice but they told me that there was no problem with the connenction on their part.
I've already did a anti-virus and anti-spyware check but there no improvement noticable. I also did a "disk cleanup" and a "disk defragmenter" on the 2 harddisks.

anyone any idea?

do you have a 2nd computer or laptop to test with your internet connection? If both are slow, it's probably your ISP. You might also be on the Level 3 backbone, which is having problems since their 'feud' with the Cogent network.

You do not say, but I presume you have dialup.

Possible Issues and Resolutions for Slow Connection Speeds in Windows XP

Also Delete Temporary Internet Files once in awhile. That folder is limited as to size, What ever it is set for.
