Slow Display of Thumnails

Comment:
When opening windows containing photos, my computer has become very slow at displaying the thumnails, sometimes taking several minutes to display them. I've tried having less pics in a folder but it makes hardly any difference. The cpu usage is not high and there seems to be no unwanted applications running. If anyone has any ideas I would be most gratefull.

You might try deleting everything in your C:\Windows\Prefetch folder (edit/select all/delete). Could possibly make the thumbnails show-up a little faster.

Go to Control Panel - Folder Options - View - 'Do not Cache Thumbnails'
If that has a Check then Uncheck it

I've found that this can happen with images of a large resolution. I've got no problems on my PC, and yet hi-res images can still take a while to show up on a thumbnails. Try some small .gifs and see if they still take ages to display thumbnails.
