What I tried to do was make my desktop background fade from color to black and white, then back to color (over and over). Anyways, I took the crystal.jpg (winXP) in windows/web/wallpapers and made it black and white. Then I used animation shop to create transitions between the images. It ended up being a 16 Meg GIF file for 800x600 (100 frames) and a 32MB file for 1280x960 (also 100 frames). So I set it as my desktop wallpaper and it looks really cool. The only thing is, it slows down my computer by a lot. Mouse clicks will have a .5 second delay and it's annoying. Is there a way to make it so that it doesn't slow down my comp a lot? Perhaps make it a flash object and put it in a html document and using that as my desktop? Will it tremendously reduce the quality if i do taht? Is it even possible?
I have a p4 2.6 GHZ, 1GB RAM, and radeon 9600 pro.
