whats the best way to speed up my computer. it is a copaq armada 1700 laptop. im connected to hi speed via clear wire. it does everything ok but very slowly, tommy
160MB is NOT enough RAM to run XP decently...in fact, it will be unbearably slow. I suggest you dump XP & install Win98SE or WinME. A lightweight Linux distro such as Puppy Linux is another possibility.
When you open, then close programs, programs may not free up RAM memory. That is called "Memory Leak". Restarting computer will clear out its RAM memory. OR install more RAM memory.

I would also recommend downgrading to Windows 2000 or ME, if you're using XP. But I take it that you're using Windows 95 or 98?
